Overview

ScreenView is a peer-to-peer screen sharing application designed with privacy in mind. We minimize data collection and do not store your screen content on our servers.

How ScreenView Works

ScreenView uses WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) technology to establish direct peer-to-peer connections between the broadcaster and viewers. This means:

  • Video streams flow directly between your device and the viewer's device
  • Your screen content is not routed through or stored on our servers
  • Only signaling data (connection information) passes through our servers to establish the initial connection

Data We Collect

We collect minimal data necessary to provide the service:

  • Stream IDs: Randomly generated session identifiers used to connect broadcasters and viewers. These are temporary and not stored permanently.
  • Connection metadata: Temporary WebRTC signaling information (ICE candidates, session descriptions) needed to establish peer connections. This data is not logged or stored.
  • Analytics: We use OneDollarStats for basic, privacy-focused website analytics. This includes aggregate page view counts without personal identifiers.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Your screen content or video streams
  • Personal information (no account required)
  • Persistent identifiers or tracking cookies
  • IP addresses (beyond what's technically necessary for WebRTC connections)

Third-Party Services

We use Cloudflare TURN servers to help establish connections when direct peer-to-peer connections are not possible (e.g., due to firewall restrictions). In these cases, your video stream may be relayed through Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare's privacy practices apply to this relay service.

Data Retention

Session data (stream IDs and connection information) exists only for the duration of your streaming session. Once you stop sharing your screen or close the browser, this data is automatically cleared from our signaling server's memory.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect personal data or require accounts, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete. Your privacy is protected by design.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
